(CNN) — It’s not an everyday phenomenon a baseball pitcher receives a standing ovation from the crowd when they make their way to the mound.
But Cleveland Indians celebrity Carlos Carrasco needed the fans at the Canal Park in their feet of Akron as he stepped out of the bullpen in the sixth inning and jogged on the field.
Carrasco reception was because he had been making his first minor league rehab appearance.
“It feels amazing as people were behind me the entire way,” Carrasco informed the MLB website. “From day until now.”

A sudden comeback
The Venezuelan overlooked the 2012 MLB season.
And on his path to return out of his leukemia investigation, Indians manager Terry Francona said weekly Carrasco pitched around 90-93 miles per hour at a simulated game.
But the right-hander quickly proved he had even more in the tank as on the very first pitch of his rehabilitation assignment with Cleveland’s AA affiliate in Akron. Carrasco fired in a 97 mph which surprised even himself.
“You know what, it seems fantastic because the first time coming back in two and a half months without baseball and only a couple bullpens, maybe three or four bullpens, and the first pitch is 97 [mph],” Carrasco said.
“Right off, I return to the scoreboard because I only wanted to find out what was the pitch, and it had been 97 miles and it seems fantastic.
“I was surprised because most of my pitches were far different than previously. My changeup, also.”

Returning to the big time
His ventures have left him a figure there if Carrasco performances made him hot in Cleveland.
With the help of his wife the set up the Carlos Carrasco Foundation which funding early childhood education in Cleveland and back home in Venezuela.
Francona said the strategy was supposed to keep Carrasco onto a reliever’s plan back into the Major Leagues in Cleveland and finally to facilitate him back to baseball.
“I believe when he started thinking about establishing as a rookie, it kind of seemed somewhat daunting, somewhat way off,” the supervisor said.
But following an outing that included 11 of his 16 pitches clocking at 94 mph or greater, the return of Carrasco could be earlier rather than later.
