Following the longest race of the NASCAR season, the Cup Series heads into one of the most unique tracks on the circuit to the Pocono 400.
There’s not any other path in NASCAR like Pocono Raceway. The 2.5-mile asphalt course in Pennsylvania has three turns with diverse degrees of banking and long straightaways. Dubbed the Tricky Triangle, the monitor’s length and relatively flat design is most like Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
When handicapping Sunday’s race (1 p.m. CT, FS1), keep in mind large horsepower teams do well at Pocono. Drivers who’ve been successful at Michigan and Fontana’s 2-mile track also tend to have success at Pocono.
MORE: NASCAR breakdown at markers of year It might have taken Kyle Busch a small time to earn that first victory at Pocono, but he is clearly on course now. Busch is the betting popular at 3/1 chances at the Westgate SuperBook, and his Pocono wins have come from the three latest races at the track. He has led 262 laps in the previous seven starts there and enters Sunday’s event with top-10 finishes in 12 of the year’s 13 races.
Recent results, pocono rules bundle According to NASACR, Pocono’s race will comprise the 2019 rules package with a tapered-spacer engine that can generate about 550 horsepower. The cars will probably have aero ducts, an alteration that NASCAR created after viewing the non-duct package at Atlanta earlier this season.
The previous six 550-horsepower races happened at the five 1.5-mile paths of Atlanta, Las Vegas, Texas, Kansas and Charlotte, as well as Fontana’s 2-mile oval.
Active Pocono winners
Denny Hamlin (four), Kurt Busch (three), Jimmie Johnson (three), Kyle Busch (two), Martin Truex Jr. (2 ), Ryan Blaney (one), Chris Buescher (one), Brad Keselowski (one), Joey Logano (one), and Ryan Newman (one).
